On Marks for Marathon

We are limbering up for one of our biggest challenges of the year – keeping runners and spectators safe at the London Marathon.

Events Solution will be transporting almost 15,000 metres of fencing and barrier to the capital on April 13 to create start and finish lines at the world famous event.

A total of 3,650 metres of pedestrian barrier and 2,150 metres of heras fencing will be used to segregate the crowd and runners at the marathon’s starting point in Black Heath. Working with local firm, Capital Barriers, we will be supplying a further 3,400 metres of pedestrian barrier and 5,500 metres of heras fencing for the finish on The Mall. Once all of the runners have crossed the line and the crowds have departed, the barrier will be dismantled and some of it erected again outside the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden in time for the Olivier Awards the same evening.

Pedestrian barrier is used generally for demarcation at events, whereas the taller, anti climb construction of heras panels makes them suitable for securing areas. Both are designed to be portable, deployed quickly and can be interlocked to provide a solid fencing line.
